The most notorious effect is that their eggshells become so thin that a parent bird will crush it’s eggs while attempting to incubate them. A species, wiped off the earth, never to exist again. If the male’s color fades after the first egg, the female reacts by laying a smaller second egg – seemingly deciding that it is better to cut her losses as the male apparently is the avian equivalent of a deadbeat father. I think they just got what they deserved.
