When I read the description of the Mulga Parrot on a pet website, I first thought it was an advertisement for Thai mail-order brides: “The exotic appearance of the Mulga Parrot might be what attracts you first, but it’s their personality that will win you over” ( source ).

I am no fan of breeders, I'll admit it. I think there are many disreputable breeders, I think they are increasing a bloated supply of pets, and I think there are many purebreds already available from shelters. Sure, but I just don't think it helps the problem of pet overpopulation. Tags: breeders.

It has about 140 stores nationwide that sell puppies that supposedly come from "good" breeders (are any breeders good? Some of the breeders were found with sick or dead dogs in their cages. The Blue-crowned Laughingthrush (Wuyuan) is listed as Critically Endangered, as there are only about 250-280 birds spending the breeding season in Northeastern Jiangxi (and according to the HBW, it is not clear where they spend the non-breeding period). I once saw this White-throated Laughingthrush at Nanhui, Shanghai.

As a breed, pit bulls have a bad rap. However, they are more vulnerable to being forced into fighting than other breeds. Aside from the breed’s abuses, one finds that adopting out this breed is highly difficult. Yes, this breed is poorly represented in the media. Evaluate the Pit Bull before Doing Anything.

But I didn't campaign for a presidential greyhound for exactly the same reason Obama's decision was disappointing: it glorifies pure breed dogs. They can say that the puppy was needing to be re-homed, therefore it's like adopting from a rescue group.
