From Florida to Maine and back again I toured urban forests, marshes, estuaries, and more, stopping along the way to visit family and friends. Little seemed to have changed, other than a brand new LEED-certified environmental center that had been built near the terminus of the protected area. A view of low-tide.

To the general public, members of the family Laridae are mere “seagulls”, crafty and determined summertime bullies dead set on snatching French fries and ice cream out of the hands of unsuspecting beachgoers – and, perhaps thanking them messily afterwards by bombing them from above.
