Urban Birding in Costa Rica

10,000 Birds

However, as with many other places throughout the globe, this small country also has its fair share of urban wildlife. As is typical of urban birding in Costa Rica, we had small flocks of this species fly over and good looks at the White-crowned Parrot , the other most common parrot in the valley. Blackbirds.

Returning home, reunions, smoke and birds!

10,000 Birds

I will provide some much greater coverage of my trip, and the species that I was able to photograph in the next couple of weeks, but one of the most exciting birds for me, was found during my stop-over at Summer Lake Wildlife Refuge. 10,000 Birds

Duck Migration

10,000 Birds

Mostly the ducks were Red-breasted Merganser and Greater Scaup , the two most prevalent species on the pond, but there were a few other birds mixed in as well. Either way, it was a heck of a sight and another example of why Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is the best place in New York City to see amazing wildlife spectacles.

Shedding Tears For Shorebirds

10,000 Birds

Photographed at Medicine Lake National Wildlife Refuge, MT. Barf at blackbirds. Most of them are essentially telling you what species they are when they talk, so just focusing on appearance may make the identification process more complicated than it has to be. Photographed at Lostwood National Wildlife Refuge, ND.
