Beer looms large in Gooddie’s daily routine, and much text is devoted to finding beer in the middle of rural Asia and evaluating its quality. That was a wild cat, a wild Wildcat, the cat that lives in the wild because that is where it is from and where it belongs, at the southern end of its pan-African range that extended at one time well into Europe and Asia. Anyway, one of the babblers of Sepilok is the Bornean Black-capped Babbler – the result of a split of the Black-capped Babbler (well, at least from a human perspective – the birds themselves are probably quite nonchalant about it). At Sepilok, it can be hard to avoid taking photos of some non-birds, such as primates.

Perhaps the most positive reaction came from noted bird photographer Marie Read, who noted that the information about waterfowl reaction to humans and decoys would be of great interest to nature photographers. I was really taken aback when I saw this. Reactions varied from confusion to distaste.
