Instead, they usually just describe species seen at a specific location, with the vague notion that these descriptions might be interesting to other birders. It looks quite distinct compared to some of the other recently discovered species. I guess my sympathy is more with the Plain Bunting, if such a species existed.

They feed on insects stirred up by the herds, at times sitting on the animal itself picking off ticks and other insects. For reasons that are not quite clear, this species underwent a massive range expansion.

It is easy to forget sometimes that birds can do weird things. And the hole looks fairly fresh.

Here's the good news: This is a very readable explanation of how animals in the Hundred Heartbeat Club (there are 100 or fewer individuals in the wild today) got to be in the club. This is irksome, as the premise is that we need to save the animals (and which ones is an interesting discussion) because we will suffer if they are gone.
