Three endangered Malayan tiger cubs were born at Busch Gardens Tampa Sunday, March 31. Each cub weighs between six and seven pounds, and is currently being monitored around the clock by the park’s animal care team. These births are critical to help preserve the species. Malayan tigers are critically endangered.

Busch Gardens’ animal care team has something new keeping them up at night – a four-week-old baby cheetah that requires regular feedings and 24-hour care. Cheetahs are included on both the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) list of vulnerable species as well as on the US Endangered Species Act list of threatened species.

One Nilgai – the largest of Asian antelopes and a few Sambar deer later, we hit a jackpot: there is one jackal-like animal sitting among the dry leaves! And then I had to leave so the next group could stare at the thing.

Lots of animals have died since the beginning of the year. Dozens of animals have been killed by armed groups at Africa's oldest national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo since the start of the year, park officials and environmental groups said Tuesday. They died between May 25 and June 16, he said.
