Even better is a guide to mammals and reptiles, because snakes and lizards are pretty much up there with mammals when you’re exploring new territory. Animals of Kruger National Park by Keith Barnes is the animal guide I wish I had when I visited South Africa. Believe me, I tried.

Or more accurately, my dog found it. I don't know if it had hatched or if the dog got it (she was licking it when I found her). We were guessing it may be a from a snake or other reptile, as it was buried and packed in pretty solid, but we have no idea. I found this egg buried in my yard today.

I can’t have a dog or cat seeing as my mom won’t let me due to both of us having allergies. I always make sure to heavily research before owning a pet, and have had many reptiles and other animals before. Please let me know, I think an animal companion is the only thing to save me at this point.

In responding to Suzie’s post defending wildlife rehabilitation I began to think again about the areas in which animal rights and animal welfare overlap with the field of conservation, and the ways in which they don’t. Not from an environmental perspective but from a “don’t you like animals?”

Rehabbers see reptiles in glue traps, gulls entangled in fishing line, raccoons used as target practice, raptors dying from rodenticides, and songbirds shredded by domestic cats … cats like Puck. So, I expected tolerance at best, antipathy at worst.

He also had tigers, cougars, and some other animals. And for rodents and reptiles as well. This is approximated by the size of the animal, but really, this has to be adjusted for depending on modality of killing. Smaller and larger animals (if there are any) are taken by other creatures. That was one of his cats.
