It was an exotic animal importing firm (why the eff do those even exist?) that was allegedly mistreating its animals. A lot of these animals are reptiles, spiders and amphibians, which explains the large number. The raid followed an undercover investigation by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. That's HUGE.

World Farm Animals Day was today. There was a picture on the bus commemorating the event with a picture of a cow looking, dare I say it, noble and long-suffering. Tags: depressed farm animal welfare. I did go to Babies-R-Us for some odds and ends and here's the Animal Person-related experience. Animals are all over the place at Babies-R-Us. The idea of family is currently being used by the dairy industry in a series of commercials with the tag line: "99% of dairy farms are family owned." That doesn't mean that 99% of dairy products are from family farms , as the average number of cows on each family farm is just over 100. The cows' tails swing in the breeze.

That's right, a herd of panicked elk were cornered in a cow pasture and a group of boneheads decided to "hunt" them. It never ceases to amaze me that people will get upset about the death of an animal whose killing was their job. In " Cows Killed by Lightning Strike ," by Angie Brown of the BBC Scotland, which today was updated to "Lightning Strike Kills Bullocks," we learn that Mr. McDougal was "very upset," numb and shocked by "the carnage he saw."

Another one from this season was wearing a diagram of a cow with all its "cuts" outlined. And frankly, I'm not sure these chefs have the training to do anything that doesn't involve a baby animal. There is a rational, and for some people a spiritual, case for being a vegetarian: Killing animals is wrong. I repeat: If you eat meat (I'd say: products that come from animals) , you cannot logically find it morally or ethically repugnant to eat a particular meat (i.e., product that comes from an animal ).
