Long story short there was a rat in the house, my stepfather got a glue trap, he caught the rat and threw it in the garbage (this was last night at 11pm) this morning my sister tells me that they caught the rat and showed me the video of my parents scooping it up and throwing it in the garbage.

Nice article about people who are committed to defending "lab rats" used for medical research. I've worked with rats and I find them charming and intelligent creatures. Tags: rats animal experimentation laboratories medical research. So I think it's sad to read this.

If you like animals you will generally not want them to suffer and you won’t want them to go extinct. Animal rights is concerned with preventing the suffering or even use of animals by humans. You cannot care about the individual, not at that level of suffering.

I know on some level, I think that’s something almost all of us can get behind…no one, except the most callous and cold-hearted of the human race things its fine to torture animals, or deny that they are capable of pain and suffering. Navy wiped out every single rat on Midway Atoll, seabirds flourished afterwards.
