Three papers coming out of the study are in peer review, and the research continues, with citizen science opportunities and additional data partnerships anticipated in the near future. What a horror! But it is all for science, I hear them say. The point is that I am sure this jacana would agree.

This bit of science is a nice final counterpoint to an account that has emphasized art, history, and literature. He effectively brings his point across by presenting facts and images and a little bit of hard science. The imaginary scenario is clearly taken from eyewitness accounts, but sources are not footnoted. What a horror!

However recent research has shown that they are in fact not baboons, despite superficial appearances, and they are now just called “Gelada”. We were able to spend hours sitting right in amongst super-groups of 500-600 Geladas that just carried on with their daily business in total oblivion to our presence.
