The real upside is that it is right by my house and the Tawny Owls occasionally stray into my oak tree at night. There will probably be environmental studies and enhancements to encourage wildlife. After a lot of backing and forthing, the vendor accepted our offer and the wood is to become a trust to be protected in perpetuity.

Welcome Back Waterfowl at Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge

Around thirty miles from Missoula in the Bitterroot Valley lies the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. At last we plunged into the woods, hoping for Great Horned Owls. Fish and Wildlife Service a. Terry McEneaney did a spectactular job as guide, and meeting the local Audubon Society crew for the first time was a lot of fun.

Finally. Jasmine the Greyhound

Animal Person

In an act of kindness, the police took the dog, which was a Greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock and known as a willing haven for Animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need. It was dirty and malnourished, and had clearly been abused. And one roe deer fawn.

Lewis's Woodpecker in New York State

Second of all, Lewis’s Woodpeckers are birds of the west and they rarely stray to New York State. Apparently in the past some birders and photographers had been not so polite in their behavior when a Northern Hawk Owl had been in the vicinity, and when this bird showed up the local law enforcement did not want it made public.
