Example A, perfectly up to date, is the wind turbine. Kaufman is a terrific writer and A Season on the Wind is a terrific book.

My favorite part of these species accounts is the section on “Other Common or Regional Names,” which includes historic appellations as well as names of the bird in the Arctic, Quebec, and Mexico. He strongly believes that waterfowl hunters are the major reason we have waterfowl and wetlands in North America today.
