I really want an animal but my parents are divorced so move between the houses every week, I rather don’t have a pet then a pet that isn’t happy. I have been looking for dwarf hamsters or some kind of bird but I also have school and sports and activities after school some days in the week.

Prior to the 1930s, hamsters were pretty much in the wild. Now, one million hamsters are kept as pets, an increase of 41 percent since 2001. Sadly, though, some 200,000 hamsters were used for research in the United States in 2000, third behind rats and mice. Tags: hamsters. Interesting article.

Hamsters also need to be housed alone and need around 3ft of space. Again huge TW hamsters in 1 1/2 foot long cages with 70-100 dwarf hamsters cramed in walking on a mat of dead and decaying hamsters and sometimes that's all they have to eat. Each other.

Pet sales would be banned altogether, except for the sale of pet fish. All companion animals including dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, and lizards would be considered as pets. I can't believe the pet industry would allow such legislation without a fight.

Have you considered keeping goats as pets? Cats and dogs are the most popular pets, along with hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs also being amongst the favourites. If you want a slightly unusual pet that has lots of personality and can also be petted, consider keeping a couple of goats.
