In " Food for the Soul ," Kristof once again yearns for the farm of his childhood which, for him, had "soul." What that means is that it wasn't a factory-farm operation. The animals were still bred and raised for slaughter, but evidently in some kind of soulful way we don't really hear about. I'm not sure how that equals soul.

As long as the animals aren't on a farm or otherwise being used by humans, I love the idea of animals in the lives of babies. There are so many decisions to be made and we're excited to raise our little girl with intention. Instead, they simply raise their children with the values of the dominant culture.
