We were then able to walk down Upper Thomson Road and get public transport back to our hotel. We had not been expecting to see a Banded Woodpecker and there we had one right in front of us. It was clear from the tree trunk that the Banded Woodpecker most likely stopped by this tree on a regular basis to look for food.

The third weekend of January, I travelled to the coastal city of Acapulco to give a seminar on family finances at a church there. These goods, purchased with Mexican silver, would then be transported overland through Mexico City, and shipped from Veracruz to Spain. If you happen to find yourself in Melbourne then there are also plenty of places to go birding in the city itself or not far by public transport. Herdsman Lake is easily accessible by public transport, but when we have visited by vehicle we have gone further afield to Yanchep National Park and the Perth Hills. Australian Shelducks.

Rather than the usual dismal waiting area there were comfortable seats and drinks, and when our transports arrived, we were placed in two large four wheel drives rather than one, so that we wouldn’t feel cramped. The highlight again happened before we left the camp, a family of Crested Firebacks.
