One of my most memorable outings was a night-time game drive in Kenya when we saw an aardvark and a zorilla, so we ticked off both the first mammal in the field guide’s index, and the last. It was an exciting experience, though a remarkably chilly one, as winters in Castile and León can be very cold.

A family motel and passion for responsible ecotourism brought her home to the Oregon Coast where she and her husband, Erik, adventure and record a podcast ( Hannah and Erik Go Birding ), created in an effort to inspire others to get out and bird. We arose each morning at 4:30am to find out that we were late to the game.

They are not necessarily the biggest African animals, but represented those that were considered a real hunter’s worthy prey or “game” – the African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Black Rhinoceros, Leopard and king of the jungle, the Lion (which of course doesn’t inhabit jungle but savanna!).

Imagine the heart exploding with happiness that the beautiful pet you have supported and loved, has found forever love with a great family. One thing they all have in common is the dangerous waiting game. Fostering is a wonderful experience. A pet needs time to decompress, to learn trust, to “get over” the shelter experience.

” I have a scientific background myself, and I guess some experiments on animals may sometimes be justifiable, but others just leave me disgusted, such as this one. eBird describes the Grey-capped Greenfinch as “a bright gregarious finch”, so I am glad I am not one of them, preferring to spend most of my time alone.
