The eagle-owls of the genus Bubo are all called “Uhu“. As a rule of thumb, with quite a number of exceptions, if the species sports feathery ears and is not an eagle-owls, it’s an “Eule“. I’d like to point out though that “owly“ is a poor translation. Thushing means strangulation until death do us part.

The Blue Whistling Thrush is presumably named for its loud human-like whistling, and possibly for being blue. It seems that this is another species for which the standard phrase of scientists anywhere, “more research needed”, applies. ” The Common Green Magpie fortunately does not look common at all.

Fortunately for the honor of the species, the researchers found that kleptoparasitism was practiced at a low rate (4% of observations) while much more often, drongos captured insects disturbed by other species (41% of observations). Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary was an amazing and unexpected treat, but that’s because I failed to do my research. Eagle-eyed Pat spotted a Lesser Black-backed Gull in nonbreeding plumage and other birders that week noted a Thayer’s Gull (which we may have seen too–I mean, who expects Iceland Gull in April?).

She has a captive-bred education bird named Xena, a Eurasian Eagle Owl. He meant well, but his research told him to feed them Exact parrot formula – which is NOT a diet for ravens. We released live mice into the flight so they could learn to catch and kill live prey. This summer Lisa raised three orphaned Common Ravens.
