Midway, which was once a military facility, has long had mice and it once had rats, though they were eradicated in 1996. In 2015, mice suddenly started attacking albatrosses sitting on nests and attacks have been steadily increasing since. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) wants to eradicate all of the mice on Midway.

Owls, the debait

She got out and began taking photos and quickly realized that the owl was being baited with white mice. But as she stayed and mice were being tossed out, she decided it wasn’t for her, and she left the birds, and the group. I question the release of non-native mice into the wild. My own take on that mirrors it.

The Uncommon Demise of a Wood Thrush in Costa Rica

Smaller frogs and toads, mice, bugs, worms, dog food, and carrion, you name it. If Wood Thrush hasn’t been documented as Cane Toad prey, it can now be added to the list. I suppose it’s no big surprise, Marine Toads can get as big as a small quail and they will basically eat whatever they can fit in their mouth.
