My arms were already shaking by the time the Mangrove Cuckoo hopped on this open branch but fortunately advancements in software now mean that I can salvage images I would’ve previously tossed. Of course, a major factor in this decision rests in its status as a resident species. What a gorgeous bird!

Of course, I eventually figured out it was the weather – there had been a series of snowstorms that had brought in all the grassland birds. A: I don’t use analytics software or collect any user data, but I do keep my eye on the number of weather requests which generally hovers around several hundred a day.

Of course, in retrospect, it is easy to understand why. Though carefully removed with photo editing software, it is obvious that the bird in the air has been fixed by a wire. All photos were rejected – none of them was considered worth publication in the book accompanying the competition, let alone worth an award.
