Bird of the Year?

I began recording my bird sightings with photographs in late 2009, and since then I have seen (or at least heard) a fair proportion of species recorded within my home country of Trinidad & Tobago. Of course, a major factor in this decision rests in its status as a resident species. Well, let me explain.

eBird Weather: RainCrow Q&A

I find the information helpful and insightful, as it can shed light on why some species were or were not seen on that trip. Of course, I eventually figured out it was the weather – there had been a series of snowstorms that had brought in all the grassland birds. It was indeed raining lightly with a temperature of about 38 degrees.

If I counted correctly, Clements has 9,915 existing bird species, plus 156 extinct species for a total of 10,071. [I Who knew?]. you might ask.

Still, after I used modern software to turn the originally black-and-white photos into colored ones, some of them may still be worth looking at). Like many other species, the Chinese Nuthatch is expected to be affected by climate change. The species is named after Peter Simon Rosefinch – no, that is wrong.

Salon des Refusés (part 1)

Of course, in retrospect, it is easy to understand why. Though carefully removed with photo editing software, it is obvious that the bird in the air has been fixed by a wire. Notes on bird species and locations shown: Amur Paradise Flycatcher (Nanhui, China). Why should there be different standards for birds? I almost promise.
