Oriental Scops Owls are quite possibly my favorite bird at Nanhui. Bird-shaped cuteness. The Relict Gull is listed as vulnerable – apparently, it is one of the scarcest of gulls with a global population estimated at 10,000–20,000 mature individuals and up to 30,000 birds. Estren, a Ph.D. Do you agree? It is beautiful, too.

The best birding of the day was found along the much quieter roads in the south east section. However, the crest is not always obvious and its diet is likely to contain birds and small mammals as well as reptiles. Spilornis cheela , can be found right across tropical Asia, preferring forested habitats.

The Taínos named the birds Iguacas, after their call. Spanish settlers arrived in 1493 and called the birds Coterras. The birds thrive.
