We had persevered through four years at the top of Battery Harris Platform and could bring our experience to bear on the task of trying to record as many species as possible on a single day from that single spot. Sure enough, it was just to our north harrying a…wait, that’s a Bald Eagle ! Species number 81!

Sometimes a little too confiding, like the Wild Turkey that wandered out into the road in front of us and brought us to a stop for nearly a minute. We also spotted Raven , Bald Eagle , Black-billed Magpie , and the inevitable Canada Goose. Car birding often leans heavily on large birds, but those were abundant and confiding.
