Our Snow Leopard sat, quite Cheetah-like, before stalking off and once again rolling in the gravel, apparently an indication of the desire to mask its scent before a hunt. We could not believe our fortune, could we really be treated to a Snow Leopard hunt – this was beyond our wildest dreams?

Ring-necked Pheasants are native to Asia, brought over in the 1880’s. During some seasons, millions of male pheasants are killed. While hunting plays some role, habitat loss as farms switch to monocultures is the greater culprit. These males are striking.

The vultures didn’t kill it, but they’ll clean up the mess. They are threatened by hunting for traditional medicine, veterinary drugs, and poachers who poison them to conceal their poaching activities. They are birds at their most composed, soaring effortlessly on thermals across the sky, and birds at their most feral.

Marabous have also learnt another trick, and that is to follow vultures and scavenge off the remains of Lion and other large predator kills. It is also related to Wood Stork of the Americas and Milky Stork of Asia.
