It has absolutely nothing to do with any genuine environmentalist ethic. Now, I know you're saying: That's not what animal rights is. And not all organizations that advocate for animals claim to have a "genuine environmentalist ethic," and the ones that do must subscribe to his ethic or they're not genuine?

If so, campaign to ban the rodeo, for heaven's sake! Just be honest about your goal and campaign for it! I don't get the overwhelming feeling that anyone is on the side of the animals, here. But the HSUS is by no means an animal-rights organization; it is an animal welfare organization.

There's a vague sense that perhaps he cares about the dogs or thinks that what he does to them might present an ethical dilemma, but the overwhelming feeling is that it's all worth it. But there is a significant contingent who is not as enamored with the Laboratory Animal Welfare Act as he is. It "guarantees humane treatment?"
