I may have just gotten myself fired from Animal Rights Zone. Is this like eating at a non-vegan restaurant, where by doing so you support animal use and abuse? Is it like buying those shoes that have no animal products but are made by a design house that uses animals regularly?

That original thought was a true statement, as free-range, grass-fed beef requires so much expense and land and water that not as many animals can be sustained as in an intensive farming situation. However, it wasn't honest of me to promote such products because my goal, after all, is for us to not use animals.

Sure, it's a lot of work, but if you're already an entrepreneur, and you have a bunch of products that could be made into books, workbooks, CDs, and DVDs, why not self-publish? I've been thinking about revising Thinking Critically About Animal Rights , as I gave away the 1,000 I printed, and they were very, very expensive.

And if it's not, and sometimes I feel it isn't, at least I am able to return to productivity, and even visit Deb's tribute without completely breaking down. Yes, there's a vegan message. But it has lessened some, and I've gained back that five pounds I lost, so I suppose my heart is on the mend.

Finally, if you know someone who gravitates toward the philosophical issues around our use of animals, this is a good book. I say "if you know someone" because this isn't a book I'd recommend to vegans for their vegan education efforts. Then again, he is not against the consumption of animals, " in general " (198).

Buying dairy products supports them. That doesn't mean that 99% of dairy products are from family farms , as the average number of cows on each family farm is just over 100. Families are just as capable of horrendous policies toward animals as anyone else. It doesn't matter to me, but let's for a moment examine the 99%.
