Africa has more than its fair share of storks, with 8 of the world’s 19 species gracing the continent. Marabous have also learnt another trick, and that is to follow vultures and scavenge off the remains of Lion and other large predator kills. They also prey on frogs and crabs.

As we speak, in Serbia these birds are still hunted in August and September. In all European Union countries to the north and east of Serbia (except Romania), Turtle Doves are strictly protected. Money and effort are being invested in that protection. Ten years ago, those flocks were reduced to a few hundred birds.

I get that you’re really angry, I mean, he was a popular lion and yes, his cute widdle cubs will probably die to, but I can’t help feeling you’ve kind of missed the point a bit, and well, ending all hunting in Africa will not solve much and maybe make things worse and… No, no, I’m not a hunter. I mean it.

Ugly stuff in Namibia, the country with the seal hunting that no one talks about because so few know about it (I mean who thinks about seal hunting in Namibia?) The pair were subsequently held by the Namibian authorities before being freed after agreeing to pay a fine for "entering a protected marine area without a permit.".

The vultures didn’t kill it, but they’ll clean up the mess. The White-backed Vulture is the most common species of vulture in Africa, although these days they are, like most vultures, globally endangered. The cute dead little Wildebeest? Word spreads. Some sit it out at first.

So, it sometimes comes to South Africa to relax and enjoy relative anonymity. Reportedly, the Water Thick-knee sometimes locates its nest close to the nest of Nile crocodiles as this offers some protection. Others are being killed for use in traditional medicine. This can lead to birds being poisoned.
