Genuinely curious why animals are scared of some people more than others. Wild animals aren't really afraid of me at all. Same with mammals, fish, etc. Animals take a wide berth of others even when they're ahead of my by themselves. I deeply respect animals and nature. So I must be doing something right.

If you are a bit deranged and like to read about animal diseases (you know who you are), I recommend checking out the paper “Poxvirus infection in a Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike “ “The nest is remarkably small for the size of the bird. .'” The species gets a consolation prize for being genuinely black-faced though.

Still it is always nice to add to the evidence of animal intellect. When it noticed a piece of kelp with an air bladder attached, it abandoned the stuff near shore and made the short swim out to collect its prize. I thought to myself “strange, I didn’t know they ate kelp.”

Knowing now how highly intelligent these animals are, I am very resistant to "using" them for therapy. These critics charge that it is no more effective and considerably more expensive than skillful conventional treatment, while potentially harmful to the humans and the animals. Further down the road, we reach a derelict building with a large veranda hidden among the trees – an abandoned hunting lodge (if I were in a situation to invest, I would choose to upgrade this into a luxury wildlife lodge). Well, one reason might be – this animal is not only endangered, but even rarer than the Tiger!

February 27, 2012 Reports of large marine animal strandings in the Gulf of Mexico continue to pile up in the first two months of 2012. Officials reported 48 marine mammals, mostly dolphins, and 87 dead sea turtles during the first two months alone. The NOOA recorded approximately 70 marine mammal strandings each year prior to 2010.

The Cattle Egret is native to Africa, where it is a familiar sight among herds of large mammals. They feed on insects stirred up by the herds, at times sitting on the animal itself picking off ticks and other insects. I’d like to introduce you to a diminutive heron, the Cattle Egret Bubuclus ibis.
