I only saw a few species I could get in the small park near where I was staying, and not even as many as I could have gotten there. Instead we turned back and investigated the rock pools along the coast. And while it was initially promising, with a pair of Glossy Black Cockatoos, that was pretty much it for the rest of the day.

This thrush is extremely common in urban and suburban Germany and one of the most conspicuous bird species here, comparable to the American Robin in North America. A few dead birds were collected by authorities and sent to a laboratory for investigation. and species breeding in cavities are less affected.

As our Gypsy comes to a halt, one Oriental Honey Buzzard is investigating the new arrivals. This particular group fits in with other Bekoff books as well as those by Jonathan Balcombe and Jeffrey Masson (see here for more on some of them from April of 2008). Bekoff and Pierce "advocate a species-relative view of morality. Each species in which moral behavior has evolved has its unique behavioral repertoire.

The first, Field Guide to the Birds of Trinidad & Tobago, was published by Christopher Helm in London in 2007 and then published in the United States in 2008 by Yale University Press. The guide covers 477 species, an expansion of 35 from the second edition, which was published in 1991. The AOU has not accepted that split.
