Pigs Used in Explosives Tests in Britain

I wish we could stop killing animals for reasons related to killing humans. Some 119 pigs were used in the research at the Government's military research laboratory Porton Down, near Salisbury, between 2006 and 2009. He said 25 pigs were used in 2006, 19 in 2007, 40 in 2008, and 35 in 2009. From the BBC News.

Second, reading about birds courting and parenting brings out the tendency to identify, which leads directly to anthropomorphism, the tendency to assign birds human emotions and thoughts. We see a Puerto Rican Parrot flying over the heads of two humans (the authors, it turns out), their yellow and white shirts shining like beacons in a landscape of forest and olive and emerald greens and cobalt blues.
