Wildlife rehabilitators are not known for our bling. People who work with wildlife wearing nice clothes? People who work with wildlife wearing nice clothes? And parrots =.”. My own parrots have taught me to avoid wearing jewelry unless I’m far from home. Wildlife rehab can be so metaphorical.

It’s just that when summer is over and most wildlife rehabilitators are fried, this is the kind of thing that will make most of us fall to our knees, choking with laughter, tears spurting from our eyes. Jayne Neville chimed in, inciting rehabbers to compare the biting ability of various seed-eaters, grackles, and parrots.

One day my wildlife rehabilitator friend Marilyn brought me a black shoebox decorated with 6 or 8 quarter-sized holes. I quickly grabbed the little delinquent, put him in a spare parrot cage, and brought him into the house. He’d always come back inside, and spend the night in his parrot cage. He was a quick study.)
