But I have to admit that seeing some of the wolves, foxes, asses, and sheep of Dulan county is nice, at least as long as they do not stand in front of some exciting birds. Blue Sheep. According to the HBW, based on strong morphological, ecological, and genetic differences, this is likely to be a distinct species altogether.

It was an unexpected bird tour, without too much planning and aimed at a few target species, of which we saw most, but the main one eluded us… Early morning, leaving the last houses behind… and a Little Owl awaits us on a traffic sign. Despite the rainy forecast, the weather was pleasantly tropical: sun, a short shower and more sun.

Today, with assistance from the Tucson Audubon Society, this world-famous destination is “The Place” to go for not only rare hummingbirds, but dozens of other species as well. By the time we left there four hours later, I checked off, seven total hummingbird species. US species – 257. 1 Gila Woodpecker. 2 House Sparrow.

My only wish, a tasty fish … Anyway, the spectacular scenery of New Zealand’s South Island does more than provide stunning wide angle shots for Peter Jackson to use in his films, it provides a home for many great species of bird (not to mention also provide some of the finest walking country in the world). Kea are pretty loud.

There are the endemics, which are odd in their own way, and then there introduced species, which are so varied in their type and origin that you get the feeling you’ve arrived at the aftermath of a small zoo that escaped. What is surprising is quite how many species did end up here, and how economically unimportant they were.
