He published a number of books on birds of India and Burma, making me wonder how hard all these overseas civil servants really worked in their day jobs.

Monkey Rescued in India

A monkey was rescued from a factory in India where it was being held in captivity. It's an adult male macaque suffering from zoochosis. The problem is characterised by the animal swaying its head and pacing up and down in its enclosure incessantly in a trance-like state, indicating it may be suffering from boredom." Poor monkey!

So, maybe not be the best place to visit for monks suffering from depression. He was from the area but had apparently been traveling to India to see the Dalai Lama. But it seems the birds like this habitat, probably as this is a rare more open area on these otherwise mostly heavily forested hills.
