Surrounded by coral reefs filled with fish, sea turtles of three species plus the common visits of Manta Rays: it is a pretty exciting place for anyone who likes to skin dive. It is also a great place for the birder for the fish have brought the birds and the island has supplied places to nest. They are everywhere.

” In a flash, our small deep sea fishing boat went from casually bobbing on gentle waves to flying over the waters of the Pacific. Earlier in the day, as we ventured out towards the deep waters off of Malpais, Costa Rica at 6 in the morning, another Galapagos Shearwater was the first real pelagic species we encountered.

I had spent the morning on Navarre Beach, walking the pier looking for sea turtles and dolphins, then making my way down the beach. The beach had a fair number of shorebirds, plus dozens of Least Terns scanning the surf for little bait fish and other prey. Nothing new or unexpected, but pleasant nonetheless.

I also really love the sea turtle, and the “petting” area where you can touch little sharks and rays. The other thing that I love about the aquarium is the section that has Utah endangered species! So it’s important that people can know about, and hopefully fall in love with, our endangered fish.
