Usually, it’s “Bird eating fish” but here we have a case of a “Bird-eating fish.” ” The Wels Catfish, Silurus glanis , is the second largest fish in its range, which covers much of Europe and parts of West Asia. As noted, the fish-like mammals do this as well. pigeons, Columbia livia ).

My recollection of prior trips is that we used relatively small fishing boats and had 20-25 birders, plus the leaders. The boat is called the Legacy and it is an 80 foot whale watching vessel that generally seats 115, but takes about 70 for birding trips. This was much larger. They took care of the eBirding too.

Galápagos: A Natural History, Second Edition by John Kricher and Kevin Loughlin gives the traveling naturalist the tools needed to fully appreciate and experience the Galápagos Islands. I wish I had read this book. They complement Kricher’s text., The book’s twelve chapters can be divided into groups of 5, 5, 1 and 1.

These mangroves function as a sanctuary for fish and other animals that then make their way as adults across the channel to the coral reefs that surround the island. Swimming with a whale shark on the boat-trip to Isla Isabel. It is a wonderful spot to watch the humpback whales breach in the crystal-clear waters.
