First I have to say that my husband and I were in our courtyard last night, with wine, vegan pizza with shiitakes, portobellos and chanterelles (still working through that five-pound bag of Daiya cheese), and Diana Krall playing. But today's post is about World Vegan Day, so onward. Some go vegetarian first, then vegan.

I could be reading into this, but it does appear that there's some discomfort on the part of non-vegans when they look through the calendar and I tell them the story. And when you're checking out at the health food store with your cans and bag of vegan dog food, how could that not be a seedy opportunity?

"Earthlings" Available as Audio Book

I've never watched it, but heard it talked about on a vegan podcast. It's supposed to be so intense, it turns people into vegans (Ellen DeGeneres for one.) "Earthlings" is a film about animal abuse narrated by Joaquin Phoenix. For those who can't handle the visuals, now it's available as an audio book.

November is. Awareness Month

My inbox this month has informed me that November is Vegan Awareness Month! I am a vegan who has adopted a diabetic greyhound who eats vegan food ( Natural Balance ), and who is adopting a boy from Russia. As a vegan, part of what I believe is that bringing animals onto this planet to use them as food or as pets isn't ethical.

"Educate, Investigate, Liberate"

We are currently doing an investigation on pig farms in Spain, including intensive and extensive/free-range farms (tho extensive ones are scarce since intensive ones are the majority in the industry). We don't advocate "happy meat" but veganism. As far as I'm concerned, Peaceable Kingdom can't be released soon enough.)
