I also saw a high percentage of the raptor species possible in Costa Rica. No, there weren’t any sightings of ultra mega Crested Eagle or missing Solitary Eagle , or king Harpy Eagle on my part but I did connect with most of the rest. We had a number of excellent birds on that trip!

Good news for the Wood Stork

Fish and Wildlife Service is down-listing the wood stork from endangered to threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The wood stork was listed as endangered in 1984, because the Florida population was dropping at an approximate rate of 5 percent per year.

He worked for Ezemvelo (the provincial parks authority) and was an avid bird bander who also worked on DNA analyses, radio tracking, monitoring endangered species nests etc.

I was fortunate to spend time scanning open fields, wetlands, and the inlet separating Hong Kong from China with this large group of friendly and avid avian observers. Mai Po Nature Reserve : world famous locale for shorebirds, waterfowl, waders, and wetland birds; wintering grounds for certain endangered species. 1 at Luk Keng.
