On a recent visit I threw my bags in the hotel room and went straight there, and got over 60 species of birds in a few hours and fantastic views of Nilgai , the largest antelope in India.

I was happy to read that the wood stork ( Mycteria Americana ), a bird near and dear to me, was down-sited from the status of endangered to threatened species. Fish and Wildlife Service is down-listing the wood stork from endangered to threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. Here is a flock of endangered species. Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge, North Dakota. Ross Perot once said “Eagles don’t flock, you have to find them one at a time.” Look carefully and you can pick out some Least Auklets as well. Buldir Island, AK.

I was in contact with a group of birders for whom I arranged and guided an annual tour to Africa. Despite birding in shattered forests with the constant background whine of chainsaws, the birding is phenomenal, with an incredible diversity and volume of rare and endangered species. And wow, what a trip we had!
