This is one of the Mormon Metalmark family, whose members all look alike, so opinions from more informed butterfly enthusiasts are welcome. Of course, that all went out the window once we started seeing birds, but I think we all came out unscathed. Just, regular old Acorn Woodpeckers , loud and persistent.

Of course, several resident Warblers were also present: Crescent-chested , Grace’s , Golden-browed , and Red Warblers , and our always common Slate-throated Redstart. Of course, even after this successful outing, I can still look forward to seeing a good number of other migratory Warblers.

This was a family outing so I was not to pay attention to the first option* but the latter two, to say nothing of the huge acreage of lawns and fields, which provided plenty of entertainment for Desi, who, at seventeen months, is more than willing to get into and explore everything, much like the Northern Mockingbird below.** Good question!
