They don't satisfy all of the requirements of Francione, but their goal is the abolition of the use of sentient nonhumans by humans. Fighting to maintain the integrity of the words humane, love, euthanasia or compassion, is also fighting for animals. They are abolitionists, just not Francione-style abolitionists.

And human psychology says that humans are far more social than rational creatures. And that means for the animal rights movement: Social entities like compassion, empathy and suffering are very important factors to motivate humans to change their behaviour. What do you think?

We give them human names and provide them with the same amenities we enjoy as humans. The "problem with this view" that arises is that it is entirely logical to broaden one's circle of compassion beyond "pets" and to other sentient nonhumans, and Scott doesn't like that logic because it conflicts with his profit motive and his palate.
