It feels good to start a post with some truly attractive birds – such as two species of broadbills. Strangely, there do not seem to be many papers on this species. In one paper , you can find fascinating sentences such as “The new species is most similar to D. My cats refuse to even try Fiery Minivets.

At Cockatoo Lagoon you can take a short walk along the edge of the billabong and there are a variety of birds, but not necessarily large numbers of any particular species. We observed Zebra Finch, Long-tailed Finch, Masked Finch, Double-barred Finch, Star Finch and the rare Gouldian Finch … an uncommon red-headed male no less!

You will either have to leave it at the airport and collect it later (using up precious time), or carry it with you in hot, humid conditions. The birding is not exceptional, but you can easily see some of Singapore’s and South-east Asia’s more common species and it does throw up the occasional jewel.

As this African Green Pigeon shows, the color should offer good camouflage for species living on trees. In case you do not know that brimstone is sulfur, the Brimstone Canary brings the point home by having the Latin species name sulphurata. Due to a misunderstanding, this species is currently banned in Russia ( Swift Tern ).

Painted Finch collect the charcoal from the fireplaces in the area. It is incredible how many species you can see in a few minutes. There was no other water nearby, so within a few minutes we observed numerous species. . There were Zebra Finch amongst them too. . You can drive or walk slowly there and back. Painted Finch.

The Great Bowerbirds only collect white and green, but they have mostly collected white rocks at this location. Another bird species that we almost always observe in this location is the Common Bronzewing. As you can see there is a good variety of bird species and it is a picturesque location to pass some time!

Rufous-throated Honeyeaters are a species that will dive into water to drink, but they also like to get out into the water on a branch if there is one available and so do many other bird species. Grant collected a suitable dead tree branch with lots of small twigs attached to maximise the area the birds could use.
