A wildlife rehabilitator friend, newly licensed, recently called to ask if he could feed a recovering Turkey Vulture anything besides defrosted rodents. As long as they had no drugs in their system, and as long as they weren’t touched by a cat (and thus contaminated with salmonella/pasteurella/Bartonella, etc.) He ate my last quail.

They would realize that wild owls fly silently through the night and grab unwary rodents, not unsuspecting packages of processed cow meat. A pet cat raising orphaned ducklings! That is, until the ducklings grow up, are released into a pond, and greet the local feral cat colony as long-lost relatives.

Keep finding decapitated mice/rats under car

The rodent has been dismembered in some way, but it doesn't appear to have been eaten at all. I have never once seen a cat anywhere in my neighborhood. I have never once seen a cat anywhere in my neighborhood. None of my neighbors have cats and I'm only aware of one dog owner blocks away. Probably a rat.
