I personally don’t think so, but here is the story ofthe first Canada Goose in the CBC history for the Everglades National Park. The birds in questions were the aforementioned Canada Goose and three happily foraging Chipping Sparrows.

If the home birding patch is in Canada or the United States of America, it’s not really that far. Lately, I have been waking up to the vocal antics of Laughing Falcon , the newly split Gray-cowled Wood-Rail , Grayish Saltator , Melodious Blackbird , and this beautiful male Blue Grosbeak that sings about a block away.

A beautiful series of raised boardwalks have been constructed, allowing year round access to the area, thru the marsh area, all the way out nearly a half mile into the tidal flats. Northern Harriers, Peregrine Falcons, American Kestrels, and a fair number of Bald Eagles all can be found on the refuge year round.

It was organized to boost eBird use, raise funds for bird conservation, and just get more people out birding. How can we say that magic is a farce when the May blossoms are backdropping bright, breeding plumaged Canadas , Magnolias , Chestnut-sideds , chocolate Bay-breasteds , and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks ?

It watched me, calmly, until I sat down about 7 feet away (almost at minimum focusing distance) and we both regarded each other, and I occasionally raised the camera and snapped off another frame. For sitting in the middle of a stream of the river was a Peregrine Falcon , eating the young Thayer’s Gull it had brought down.
