My dogs eat vegan dog food. To say they are vegans is odd to me, though I have done that as the distinction is lost on most people and for the sake of a swift message it does the job. When I first saw PCRM's " Kickstart Your Health With a Vegan Diet " campaign, I let out a bit of a sigh.

Next month, Meredith will begin an aggressive marketing campaign for Mixing Bowl, start a companion print magazine—and start launching cookbook authors through the site. Vegans seek out vegan sites, but a nonvegan looking for a chocolate cake recipe probably won't seek out a vegan site. because they're already vegans.

I'm a vegan who thinks we shouldn't be using animals even if we change the conditions of their use. Of course there are oodles of vegetarians who mention veganism and how difficult and restricting it is, and overall I'm having a fairly disheartening experience. After all, who I am doesn't stop at vegan. Jekyll and Hyde anyone?

Are we pinning people down and force-feeding them vegan burritos? Vegans give money to organizations that they think are going to further their vegan cause but that's not what ends up happening with all 100% of those donations (let's assume some goes to vegan education or animal rescue or even open rescue).

I want to talk about why we shouldn't be using animals and that it's infinitely easier to be a vegan than it was 20 years ago. The most telling part of Krupp's post, which addresses and questions the way women are used in PeTA campaigns has nothing to do with that controversial concept at all. But I don't want to talk about PeTA.

Tags: Current Affairs Ethics Language. I recently read a very-lengthy, round-and-round discussion that I had the good sense to not participate in, that devolved into whether or not an individual was an abolitionist, and such discussions have occurred right here at Animal Person back when I quite frankly asked for them.
