Bea sent me a link to an article in Gourmet called " Humane Slaughterhouses ," by Rebecca Marx, that is absurd. And the absurdity is in the reality that the author and the featured person who kills sentient nonhumans for a living, think they're onto something. It’s how we treat humans, too. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

He asked whether cows, chickens, sheep and some of the other animals that we eat are usually treated and killed in a humane manner. The meat industry will say yes, of course, all animals are treated and killed humanely. In my opinion, the crux of the question touches on what is “humane.” Here is my opinion.

My self-appointed job in this blog is to think critically about how our human lives intersect with those of sentient nonhumans, in action and thought. If they want what's best for lobsters, they should be advocating for not killing and eating them at any restaurant (and then I guess the question becomes: why stop at lobsters).

Today, March 30th, at 3:00 East Coast time, Susan Soltero of Puerto Rico will interview me live on the air at WALO Radio about Responsible Policies for Animals' 10,000 Years Is Enough campaign to get our universities out of the meat industry! Ruminants are four-footed, hoofed, even-toed, cud-chewing mammals with four stomachs.

RPA launched its 10,000 Years Is Enough campaign to get our universities out of the meat industry in 2003.
