What’s in a Name?

10,000 Birds

Eleonora’s Falcons still breed on Sardinia today. Wagner wasn’t the only one to have died from gunshot wounds.

When the South Dakota ferret numbers began dropping, they captured nine animals in hopes of starting a captive breeding population. Desperate optimists have tried to wish every extinct species, from the plesiosaur to the Ivory-billed Woodpecker , its own little island of habitat where it survives. But the ferrets kept dying.
