However, unfortunately, this seems to be mainly true for Laced Woodpecker (female) … … and Greater Flameback (female). The HBW describes the population of the Blue-naped Parrot at Kota Kinabalu as feral – sounds a bit harsh to me given the proximity of Kota Kinabalu to those areas where the species is deemed a proper resident. The US company NE Pigeon Supplies presumably is involved in supplying materials to keep and breed pigeons.

They are declining in Serbia and in these lowlands, they are nowadays commonly spotted only on migration, but have mostly retreated from the plains (except some steppe pastures) and in the breeding season are common in the mountains above the upper forest line. A pair displaying at the end of August, well after the breeding season?

It is commonly kept in captivity and has therefore established many feral populations world-wide originating from escaped / released cage birds. and the White Storks are also wild and countable despite breeding at the zoo. Very stupid thing to do. Yes, the Egyptian Geese there are countable.

Pygmy Cormorant – winter (it breeds in Serbia, but overwinters in Belgrade). Goosander and Red-breasted Merganser – Belgrade in winter; otherwise, the first one breeds in Serbia. White-tailed Eagle – year round (breeds inside the city). Black and Syrian Woodpeckers – year round. Black Stork – spring/summer.

Like manky mallards, ganky geese display remarkable variety due to both the methodical manipulations of breeders and the variable volatility of the more natural kind of breeding. Feral geese run the gamut from pure white to almost entirely gray or brown. We certainly see enough of them, don’t we?
