Here in the Brecks – an area of poor, sandy soils on the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk – we have a small but important breeding population. They favour the old heaths, but a number of pairs also breed on farmland. Brettenham Heath National Nature Reserve holds the highest density of nesting Curlews in the Brecks.

100,000 Salmon Released in Sweden

From Biteback: On the night of 21 November more than 100,000 salmon were liberated from two fish farms in northen Sweden. These two fish farms are a part of the huge Swedish fish farming industry that kills over 5 billion fish every year. A boat motor was also destroyed and some tires slashed.

These globally threatened raptors breed from Ukraine eastward through Siberia and only a few come to overwinter here. The biggest count ever was less than 10 birds in the whole of Serbia.
