Interestingly, the birding lexicon uses other terms to describe unanticipated arrivals in more positive terms. Perhaps our outrage at invasive species can be a bit hypocritical at times. The rapid proliferation of the European Starling is, on the species level, equivalent to incalculable fortunes of billionaire moguls.

The very first thing we notice about this large member of the Galliformes is that there is a wild version and a domestic version, and although the two are rather different, they are both given the same species name, Meleagris gallopavo. This is not entirely unknown among domestic animals, but many domesticates have no living wild version.

The most valuable site I found was UAE Birding , an excellent site full of location guides, recent sightings, and a busy forum where its members discuss all aspects of birdiness in the area. So I asked if I could stretch the layover by 24 hours.
