For the most part, they conduct their morning journey in silence, but sooner or later one of these crows is destined to become my first bird observation of the year, either by uttering “caw!” Old Crow is named not for the bird, but for Dr. James C. or “uh-huh!”

At the far end of the lake stands a tall, dry tree with an eagle that we are struggling to determine and it remains a dark silhouette far too far. Somewhere below that mysterious eagle, at the far shore of the lake, lies one Bengal Tiger … and further to the right – two more! He has earned his tip.

Lake Indoon is easily reached either from Eneabba off the Brand Highway by travelling approximately 13kms west or from Indian Ocean Drive. Most of the birds in the area were well above ground level! There were some reeds remaining as well and enough water to sustain a substantial amount of bird life and wildlife. Feral bees.

In publishing the most current thinking, eBird have become the month’s biggest contributor to the life list, expanding it by 7 brand new species and pushing it to 3774. 7 species were added to the life list in the time-honoured fashion of actually identifying the birds in the field.
